Well it sure has taken me several weeks to write this! As you remember, my mom and I went to Brimfield back on May 15th. We lucked out with decent weather, dry and not too hot. Surprisingly, I restrained myself and didn't go crazy buying a bunch of unnecessary, overpriced goods. Here are some photos from this year's show: As I said, I definitely restrained myself more this year, however I did buy the most beautiful quilt, something that I've been coveting for months! You've probably seen them at Anthropologie selling for double their original price. I stumbled upon the kantha quilts first somewhere near Mays - they were selling for $65, and I thought, "well, I don't really need this..." And walked away. You know, I'm on this quality-versus-quantity kick right now! So fast forward to strolling down further to a different area, stumbling upon a nest of hundreds of kantha quilts, selling for $75 and up..."I actually sell these to Anthropologie and they inflate the price by at least double, so this is a steal." Mhmm, ok guy. I immediately panicked and said to my mom, "I have to go back and buy one from that other vendor, it's a good deal!" In the interest of time, my mom and I split up (and it was like going back to the age before cell phones, lemme tell you, T-Mobile has NO service out in Brimfield!) and I set out on my quest. I couldn't find the vendor! I frantically tracked down my mom, who has wonderful sense of direction, and she flawlessly found the vendor where we originally found the blankets. This chick negotiated too! I mean, yes my mom helped, but I offered $50, he asked for $55, I stared at my mom realizing I only had $20's left in my wallet, and then decided..."Ok!" I would say it was a great deal, and the kantha quilt is beautiful. A work of art. I want to hang it on a wall, to be honest! It was a great day after a rough start (we hit more traffic than normal and it took us an extra hour to get there!), and we finished the day strong with a trip into Worcester. We had to of course stop at my beloved antique mall Crompton Collective, where I bought adorable clear plastic salt and pepper shakers, the letters S and P (my mom has them because I totally forgot them in her car!). We also had an amazing delicious dinner at Volturno Pizza - one of these better open in Cambridge soon!! I had the asparagi pizza with prosciutto, and my mom had the margherita dop. Both were insanely good! I highly recommend this resto if you're ever exploring the awesome town of Worcester. It's also next to Wormtown Brewery - über win-win. xx
