Be Well Cleanse: Day Ten

7/14/2015

How did these ten days fly by so quickly? Today was a good day. I walked over to Whole Foods before work to grab some nooch (nutritional yeast), apple cider vinegar, lacinato kale (because I totally didn't cut the bunch I bought Sunday up in time), and some kombucha. I had my first morning shake with cashew milk again (yum!) and then my second morning shake with water. I snacked on some pistachios before lunch, powered through work, and then made a creative lunch - if I may say so myself! I've been craving a sandwich, or maybe just bread, so I made kale wraps. I spread a little bit of artichoke hummus onto two leaves that had been cut in half, then some shredded carrot, that ground turkey I made the other night, three kalamata olives chopped up, and then topped each wrap with a bit of turmeric. I loved the crunch of the wrap, and the savory layers of flavors. Really good!

Later in the afternoon, I had my third shake with water and stole some time away from work to vacuum and Swiffer the apartment. Finally, a slower WFH day! For dinner, I decided to get creative. I love how this cleanse has helped me think more creatively about meals! I spiralized a sweet potato and saved half for a later meal. Then, I sautéed one clove of chopped garlic with some freshly chopped sage in a tsp of coconut oil and a tbsp of EVOO. I tossed in some chopped kale (the last of the bunch from last week) and then added the spiralized sweet potato and let it cook to soften a bit. Since I bought some nooch this morning, I decided to try to make a 'sauce' with it...I failed, but it ended up being an epic fail, in a good way! I mixed a couple tbsps of nooch with a tbsp of tahini, a dash of turmeric, a bit of EVOO, mixed it up...and it turned into a paste! This ended up tasting slightly crunchy and nutty on the spoodles (can we call sweet potato noodles spoodles, or is that too weird?). I had a piece of that salmon filet on the side to round out the meal, but could've done without it since I'm pretty full (not overstuffed though, I promise). Overall, this was kind of my favorite meal so far! It was my first time eating spiralized spoodles...ok, nevermind, we can just call them sweet potato noodles, that I cooked. I've baked them as fries before but never as a noodle dish. Really delicious! I will admit, I was intimidated previously, but now I feel like they can be super versatile and I am ready to create another delicious dish!

After dinner, I ate a few cherries and some mixed organic berries. I feel like my day is incomplete without a handful of berries in the summer!

Funny, I've noticed a lot of my meals have orange in them...according to the chakras and the colors, it represents the 2nd chakra, the sacral chakra, which corresponds to not only emotions and sensuality, but also the center of creativity. In craving berries, maybe it's to balance my root and throat chakras. Time to get myself a refresher and look through Kimberly Snyder's amazing The Beauty Detox Power Book to read about chakras and foods to balance them; I find it all pretty interesting!
