As I may have mentioned in past posts, I am not the biggest fan of meditating in silence. I have found that a repetitive sound or ambient music will allow me to focus on my breath and gently hold me in the present moment. My go-to relaxation playlist this week, one I just discovered, is called "Stress Relief" on Spotify. It's a mix of peaceful, ambient music, sans singing (except one song that I usually skip), so it helps one just melt into the moment.
Here are some good tunes to try to meditate to:
- "Finding It There" by Goldmund
- "The Typewriter" by Library Tapes
- "aisatsana [102]" by Aphex Twin
- "Movement 1 Ether" by DJ Drez
- "Separation No. 2" by Caspian
- "The Garden" by Sinepearl
- And ye olde standby..."Aqueous Transmission" by Incubus
Give it a try, even if it's for just a couple of minutes at first. Maybe even try listening to white noise or the sound of the waves or rain...find what works for you. Once it becomes more of a regular practice, you'll be amazed (and slightly shocked) at how your patience suddenly rises to the occasion!
I find that for me, it's easier to set a reminder on my phone daily to remind myself during a set, specific time period. You could also try to plug it into your normal routine, such as upon waking in the morning or just before bedtime.
Best of luck with this, I hope you find it helpful. No off you go to zen-town!
xx
