Mind you I've tried to write this about 3 or 4 times. I have this expectation for myself that this blog will be the one I actually use regularly, a collection of writings and photos that will really show all the things I love. However, given my occupation, I try to recognize that lovely little mantra - I do what I can. Gahh how I wish I could minimize some expectations! I welcome comments, suggestions, but also hope that my audience (if I'm lucky to get one that includes people outside of my family) will have patience with me.
So for my first post, I guess I'd better explain the blog name. I initially came up with Antique Modern since it describes my dress and interior design aesthetic. However, that didn't stick too long. I felt that it was too ambiguous, and almost too old sounding.
A few minutes before starting this post, sitting in bed at my Aunt Shell's house on a mountain in North Carolina, I came up Pivoine de Paname, which translates loosely to peony of Paris - Paname being a slang nickname for the beautiful city. Ever since I was a teeny tiny little babe, I've been enamored of Paris. Peonies are also my favorite flower, and one that I incorporated into my wedding last year. Alors, Pivoine de Paname was born, and I think it sounds pretty catchy. Maybe the name will change down the road, but for now this feels right.
Thanks for reading, hope to post more soon.
