I decided to make my first morning shake with unsweetened plain coconut milk (only 35 calories, boom!) and it tasted soooo much better! I also snacked on raw almonds mid-morning (not sure if this is ok or not, but I needed something!) and of course my mid-morning shake made with water. I'm not really sure if I am supposed to snack so much...I'm probably not supposed to...maybe I will try to eat less tomorrow.
Lunch was pretty standard: a salad with kale, arugula, sliced carrots, raw cauliflower, one avocado, slivered almonds, tossed with my homemade lemon vinaigrette. The cauliflower almost tricked my brain into thinking there was cheese in the salad, since it's chunks of white. In the afternoon, I had a cup of cherries as a snack, along with my mid-afternoon shake. For dinner, I sautéed shiitake mushrooms in EVOO, balsamic vinegar, garlic, thyme, s&p, and tossed it with spiralized zucchini with a dash of turmeric, and a piece of salmon of the salmon I cooked yesterday. I may or may not have also had a handful of cashews.
I am noticing I am craving flavors: salty and sweet. After my salad, I wanted something sweet to balance out the savoriness of the salad. Then, when I got home from work, I wanted something salty. I tend to crave salty/savory more than sweets, so it was pretty interesting to me that I craved something sweet.
Drinking water is definitely helping, and the cleanse recommends drinking a lot of water. Full disclosure, I'm definitely a bit bloated post-lunch, not sure if it's from the probiotics I take with my meals for lunch and dinner or if it's the cauliflower, kale, etc. Also, I totally skipped out on that monthly feminine thing this month (thanks, pill-form birth control!) - I'd get it by Thursday and I feel like that would just add to my fatigue and feeling queasy in the morning.
Two days down, twelve to go. This feels do-able! I feel especially optimistic when I ask the girl at Exhale to give me change for a ten for tip, and when she hands me my five + five one's I tell her she forgot my other five. I'm going to guess it's going to take a few more days for my body to adjust. Stay tuned!
xx
